Step 1: Re-activate your Trend Micro Security program by doing the following:

  • Reach the Trend Micro main console, and there click on the ‘Activate Now’ button.

Note: If the ‘Activate Now’ button doesn’t appear, directly proceed to Step 2.

  • Provide a computer name, and then click on ‘Next’.
  • Click on ‘Finish’ button.

If the error message is still appearing even after accomplishing the above process, proceed to Step 2 i.e. Disable the Trend Micro Security program.

Step 2: Disable the Trend Micro Security product

The following steps will help you to disable your Trend Micro Security Product:

  • Right click on the Trend Micro security icon in the System Tray present at the bottom right part of the screen, (near the clock).

Important: If you the System Tray icon is not visible, click on the arrow button to show the rest of all icons.

  • Select ‘Exit’ option.
  • Then wait for some time until the Trend Micro's System Tray icon which is near the clock at the bottom right part of your computer’s screen, to disappear.

If the icon disappears, it means that the Trend Micro is now disabled.

Step 3: Enable the Trend Micro Security product

To carry out this step, first of all you have to choose your operating system & then follow the steps given below according to the OS running on your computer:

Windows 10 Users

If you are using Windows 10 then you have to double-click the Trend Micro icon on your desktop in order to open your Trend Micro Security.

Windows 8/ 8.1 Users

If Windows 8/ 8.1 is running on your computer then you have to click the Trend Micro icon on the Windows Start screen for opening your Trend Micro Security.

Windows 7 Users

In order to open the main console of your Trend Micro program on Windows 7, do any of the following:

  • Double-click the Trend Micro icon on your system screen.
  • Click the Start > Programs or All Programs > Trend Micro then choose either one:
  • Trend Micro Antivirus+ Security
  • Trend Micro Internet Security
  • Trend Micro Maximum Security

If the error message is still frustrating, proceed to Step 4

Step 4: Check if your Trend Micro Security has the latest program update

For checking out if your Trend Micro Security Software is up to date or not, do the following:

  • Right click on the Trend Micro icon present in your system tray which is at the bottom right-hand corner of your desktop.
  • Select Check for ‘Program Updates’ option.

“About Your Software” dialog box will appear & will automatically check for available updates.

  • Click on ‘Close’ option once the download is complete or if there are no new updates available.

Proceed to Step 5 if you still encounter the error message

Step 5: Reinstall your Trend Micro Security product

To re-install your Trend Micro Security software, reach the official website of Trend Micro and follow the on-screen instructions.
